STORY

This is new India, not old, and it doesn’t hold back. faceted blue strands loop and gather around soft gold pearl beads, and then there are the three beads that make it: two set with deep blue stones, and one at the centre, stamped all over and scattered with tiny stars.

In India, lapis is called lajward. In vedic astrology it is said to carry the energy of shani, saturn, the planet of discipline and things worth waiting for, and it’s believed to be a gentler stand-in for blue sapphire. wear it and you’re carrying saturn and a handful of stars around your neck.

STYLING

Let it be the only thing you’re wearing that talks. a plain white shirt open at the neck, a black dress, or bare shoulders. small gold earrings at most.

CARE

Lapis is soft and pearl beads scratch easily, so put this on last and take it off first. keep it away from water, perfume, hairspray and sunscreen. Wipe gently with a soft dry cloth and store it flat so the strands don’t tangle.

One of one. When it’s gone, it’s gone.
