STORY
STORY
A ghau is a portable shrine, carried by pilgrims across Tibet and Nepal, holding a fragment of prayer flag or a small clay tsatsa for protection on the road. This one holds Maitreya, the Buddha still to come, still waiting his turn. It's carried him, and someone, for over a hundred years, slung across a shoulder for distances we'll never quite know.
Worth noting this piece comes from Tibet rather than Rajasthan, a different thread in the same tapestry we're drawing from.
One of one. When it's gone, it's gone.
STYLING
STYLING
Too antique to be worn. Sits best somewhere it can be seen daily, a shelf or a desk, the kind of object you look at rather than past.
CARE
CARE
Handle the glass panel gently, it's original and irreplaceable. Keep the silk case for storage. A soft, dry cloth for the silver, nothing more.
